Powerful, Proven Treatment For Depression

Ketamine has been among the most widely used anesthetics in the world for more than half a century. Low-dose IV Ketamine infusions have been recently identified as a breakthrough treatment for depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, and PTSD, including resistant cases. This new use of an “old” medicine is called Ketamine Infusion Therapy.

For over two decades, teams from top scientific institutions and universities have researched the efficacy of Ketamine for depression with overwhelmingly positive results. All have found that around 70% of patients showed a significant decrease in depressive symptoms.

At Capital Ketamine, our treatment approach offers a series of 6 low-dose IV Ketamine infusions administered in two options: 1 treatment weekly for 6 weeks OR 2 treatments weekly over 3 weeks. While other care approaches can take months, our treatments can provide relief within hours. Most patients see significant improvement by the day after their 3rd infusion. However, results can range from instantaneous to occurring once the entire series has been completed. Ketamine Therapy for depression and other mood disorders is safe and effective.

The Procedure

R

Your IV is started and the Ketamine infusion is administered in a quiet, safe, private space where you’ll be made comfortable with pillows, blankets, a sleep mask, and noise-canceling headphones.

R

You’ll be continuously monitored by our experienced, and compassionate medical team using hospital-grade equipment to ensure your comfort and safety. Typical Ketamine infusions last 40 minutes. We allow a 50-55 minute window.

R

You’ll be conscious and awake the entire time. You’ll likely experience mild dissociative effects. These are often regarded as relaxing, pleasant, or blissful. In some cases, they can be uncomfortable. If anxiety arises, we can talk you through your experience with reassurance and guidance, lower the infusion rate, or even stop the infusion altogether to restore comfort. In extreme cases, we can administer relaxing medications.

R

The dissociative effects of Ketamine wear off quickly. Most patients feel much like themselves (aside from some fatigue) within 20 minutes of infusion completion and typically leave the clinic within 30.

R

Patients are advised to take it easy for the rest of the day – no driving, no contract signing, no operating heavy machinery, etc. A healthy meal, lots of water, and rest are recommended.

Post-Procedure Aftercare Plan

R

We review what resources can help you maintain your benefit, what lifestyle changes you can make to keep symptoms at bay, and what signs to look out for so you can recognize when you may need follow-up treatment or “booster infusions”.

R

Our commitment to your recovery continues well after your initial series of infusions are completed at our ketamine treatment centers. That’s why we combine our treatment program with an extensive aftercare plan which includes regular follow-up and assessments via email, HIPAA- compliant tests, and occasional calls.

R

We’re always available to answer questions and love to hear about your success too. We remain available to all of our patients by phone and email, no matter how long it’s been since they completed treatment, and respond to almost all questions and inquiries the same day they are received.
